My brand new Nakamichi CD400 seems to be having a problem. It is supposed to have options to set the display and buttons colors to amber and/or green in any of the four combinations of amb/green, GREEN/ green, amb/amb or GREEN/ amb but my brand new unit wont let me have green buttons. The sound quality is very nice! I called the online store from whom I purchased (onlinecarstereo.com) but they say they do not have a tech support dept and I have to call the Nakamichi dealer. I told them the dealer won't help me since I did not purchase it from them. Onlinecarstereo tells me I have to talk to Nakamichi Directly and then give them proof and then send the unit back to them and they'll verify it is really defective and then send me another new one.   Does anyone know what's the number to call in the US? Or is there someone who knows about this HU and can tell me if I am wrong or the unit really needs to be replaced? I love the sound quality on this little thing! At worst case, I can live with no green lights and use the amber ones.
Thanks.
Mark

Yes, the CD400 should cycle through the four color combinations when you select the display color function and turn the rotary encoder.  If it does not then it is probably defective.  If it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it I guess.  Send the service depatrment an email and they should be able to tell you the nearest factory service center in your area: http://www.nakamichiusa.com/feedback.html

Thanks for the info. I just sent them the following para:

I just purchaed a brand new CD400 but the green lights do not come on. Amber is fine and display is fine, but just the buttons will only show amber but no green!   I purchased from onlinecarstereo.com and they say Nakamichi should confirm the product is defective and then only will they exchange my CD400. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am afraid that they(onlinecarstereo.com) may send me back a refurbished item once I return my brand new one. If it is too much trouble with onlinecarstereo.com, Ill never buy from them again but will live with my CD400 by using green display and amber buttons. Im very happy with the sound quality, so I'll pass the colors (which is secondary to me anyway) if it becomes too much of a hassle exchanging.
