I created a 3/4" mdf shround that conforms to the back of the rear seats opening. Then I cut a rectangular window in the shroud so u can see my plexi sub box behind it.
I've never messed with using Vinyl before and was wondering if anyone could share some techniques on how I can wrap the shroud w/ Vinyl???
I attempted it this weekend. It came out alright. I used 3m 90 Adhesive spray on the mdf and vinyl. I started by just applying the top flat surface. Once that was in place, I wrapped the vinyl along the outside edge of the mdf. Then I cut hole in the middle and wrapped the vinyl on the inside edge. But the problem lies in the rounded corners and 90deg corners. I couldn't get the Vinyl to wrap around them (it was soo tight) so I had to cut the vinyl at a 45 degree angle which left a 'V' shaped opening to the wood (so I ended up putting a little piece of Vinyl under the V shape so at least it was black!)
Anyway, any help would be great! I got the vinyl from Select Products and I think its 1 way stretchable.
Thanks,
Ryan

The way I picture your description,  you are covering the inside face of the partition and also the 3/4" edge that is the perimeter of the square cutout.  If you need to just fix what you have already done, the solution will still look rough.  But the glue you will need to get is seam sealer (vinyl-to-vinyl) found in the wallpaper-hanging section of the store.  That can be applied into the corner, a strip of vinyl 3/4" wide placed into the 90 corner glued with the seam sealer, and the vinyl from the face wrapped around with the glue in between.  Then use a single-edge razor blade and cut through both layers where they overlap.  This is a relatively slow drying glue so you have time to work this way.  Peel the top vinyl back up and remove the cut portions of vinyl from underneath, then press the top vinyl back down.  Remove excess glue with a damp sponge, because if it dries on the surface it will leave a shiny residue.  In paperhanging, which I used to do, it is called double-cutting.

If you are doing the project over from the bare wood, I would prime the MDF first with a ready-mixed vinyl primer also found in the same section (not sizing).  After that dries you can use the appropriate spray-on glue on both surfaces.  Use the seam sealer for edges, first applying a strip of vinyl all the way around the inner edge of the opening, allowing the strip about 2" too wide so it will overlap onto the front and back surfaces.  Carefully cut the corners so it lays flat.  The inside edge should now be completely covered.  Then you can cover either front or back side of the partition.  When it comes time to cut out the opening, go ahead and X-cut it from corner to corner, then using a new razor blade, "feather cut" the edge of the opening, cutting off the excess vinyl while holding the blade at a 45 degree angle, blade resting lightly against the edge.  Be careful not to cut into the vinyl underneath.  This will leave an overlap around the edge underneath.  The vinyl can be glued together with the seam sealer.  If the overlap shows through the vinyl, you can double-cut it, which is what I would do.

If I'm on the wrong track and that's not what you asked,  I'll probably just hang myself  ;)

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
