i have a rampage (amp-610) 4 channel, 500 watt amp (stable at 4 ohms mono, 2 ohms stereo)...and i have 1 rf hx2 2212 12" 4 ohm DVC sub...now i was told to bridge each coil to 2 channels of the amp, but when i do the amp always cuts off and it doesnt sound as loud...i can make the amp real louyd by wiring the sub to 2 ohm and running it bridged off of just 2 channels, but again the amp heats up and goes iunto protection...i wire the sub into an 8 ohm load and bridge it , not enough power...now the one thing ive found that works great is to just bridge one coil to the first 2 channels, and it really pounds and never overheats...the only thing is that my other coil isnt hooked up and that may hurt the sub, plus it isnt getting fully powered...any suggestions?

(ps my new amp is gonna be here in a week spo this is just temporary)

just run it 8 ohm for now and play it safe until next week, , , im shure you don't want to fork out a few more $$ for a new sub just because you were impatient.

I used to have that amp, its not the most stable amp for pushing a sub. I'd suggest not event using it and just waiting for your new amp to arrive. I'd keep it around though as it can push mid-high level speakers really well.

See if autozone will let you take the amp back, and wait for the new amp to come in.  BTW, what is the new amp?

yea i got the amp for free, and anyways i figured out what the problem was, my HU only has 1 set of preouts and the amp has 2 cuz its a 4 channel, so i bought some y adapters and voila, i wired the amp into a bridged 4 ohm load, beautiful....

btw, i got the amp for free so im just using it right now, and i have a rockford 1001bd coming, its 500 rms @ 4 ohms, and 100 rms @ 2 ohms (i know im not gonna get those exact specs, but thats good because i dont want to blow my sub anyways) and im gonna run the single sub in a 4 or 8 ohm load until my second one gets there, then im gonna make it a 2 ohm load and get 500 watts to each speaker...i think im gonna build my first box, and im gonna need some help!!!
