I recently installed a sony 50w X 4 head unit  into a nissan sunny 94 and am experiencing problems.

1) the light behind the speedometer does not come on while my lights are on. I realize this has something to do with the illumination wire but i couldnt find one to connect it to from the back of the sony head unit.

2) when i try and listen to the radio the antenna does not go up. I have the antenna connecter plugged in the right spot im just wondering what the story is with that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

P.s. ive checked all the fuses and double checked them, all the fuses are sweet.

  • Re-install the OEM deck and see if the dash light problem goes away.... if it does then you know it's because of the installation of the new HU.... otherwise if it's still there then you have another problem.
  • Again re-install the OEM HU and see if the antenna goes up or not. Was the Sony a new unit or used ? You may have to use the remote turn on leasd instead of the power antenna lead. This would make the antenna go up whenever you turn on your radio but at least it will work
