Hi,

I am going to be replacing teh stock deck of a 1998 mercury mystique.   What parts do i need to install it (e.g harness, removal tools etc)... also would anyone know how much power the stock deck puts out as I plan on using the original speakers for now.

thanks.

A quick look at my book shows that you will not need a install kit. You will need to determine if you have a premium sound system or a stock system. If it is the stock system you will need the Scosche wire harness model #FD02.

If it is a premium system you will need a factory amplifier bypass setup. If this is new to you, take it to a professional.

Without looking at it (or remembering it) you will need the standard ford radio removal keys. You can use 4 small 1/8 nails or small screwdrivers for this as well. The front panel of the stock deck should have 4 holes in it, one in each corner. Push a nail into these holes, angle the nail towards the center of the deck. Once all the nails are in, gently apply outwards pressure on the deck and the deck should slide forward out of the mounting hole. Once the deck is out you can then post up what the harness looks like. Have a look on this site to see if it the same.
