OK, I realize this may be a "pesonal choice" question but perhaps you guys can help.

My HU has adjustments for bass and treble from -8 to +8. In the past I had run the treble about +3 or +4 and the bass at about +2 or +3. I was experimenting and found that it didn't sound too bad with the treble down to +1 or so and the bass down to -3 or -4. Gave a different "feel" to the sound.

First Q) I was wondering where you guys set your controls on the HU, assuming you don't have an EQ (I don't)?

Related to this, I swapped my old school Punch 150 with my Alpine MRV-T505. The Alpine has always run my mids, but I figured I'd just try the Punch out. I expected that it wouldn't sound as good, but I think I may like it a bit better actually. This is based on only 15 - 20 mins of listening without my BA RC61's crossed over on the low end.

Second Q) The Punch has a knob for treble and one for bass. I noticed even with the HU set flat (0 levels on bass and treble) I could get the sound pretty good by adjusting the amp controls. What is the preferred method of sound control in this situation? Leave the amp neutral and adjust with the HU or leave the HU neutral and adjust with the amp? Or a bit of each?

yep, i keep my treble at 0 unless i have a sh*tty recording, and bass stays at -6, unless someone pulls up and then it goes to 0, any more treble,on clear cds my compressions horns kill my ears

I always keep my settings as close to 0 as possible, , the more you adjust, the further you get away from the way it should really sound. I would do the adjustments at the amps, like play with the bass at the bass amp, , and the rest for the speaker amp.....if you play with the bass to much on the deck, then it will make the speakers sound crappyer while making the sub louder

Thanks guys. I'll have to spend some more time messing with the settings.

At 0 it still sounds a bit "muffled", well I guess the treble does.
