extra batterie installation

       i have a 92 cadillac deville, i was wondering how i would go about installing an extra batterie, i want it in my trunk if possible for good power flow my my amps. how would i keep this batterie alive, would i need another alternatorCadillac Chris

Just connect the batteries directly in parallel: + to + and - to -.  This can be done all the way to the trunk also. You can ground it to the body in the trunk if you get a good ground (less than .5 ohms resistance to the neg. side of the other battery.) Adding another batt. will not affect the alternator. The only thing that will affect the alternator is if the amps place too much of a load on it. Find your alt's. size (either stamped or labeled on it somewhere) and multiply that times .4. That will tell you approximatly how many amps are available to your amplifiers. Add up the ratings of all the fuses in the amps, and if that is lower than the other number you just figured, than you should be o.k. If it is higher, you may want to think of a bigger alt. or smaller amps ( I know - that's completely out of the question ;) ) You'd better get me out of this lord... or else you'll have me to deal with. -- Hunter S.
