Popping noise when engine turn off?

Hi all, just wondering everytime i turn off my engine i heard a popping noise from my rear 6x9 and the sub. I was told in order to solve this problems i need to install a capacitor inline on the remote amp, will that delay the amp shutting down and eliminate the noise? If so what rating should i be looking at the capacitor, and does it have to be non-polar??? Cheers :)

What you need to do is install a switch on your amp turn on wire. So you can shut the amp off manually, before you shut the car off.

i personally dont see how a capacitor will help you out if the function of a cap, is to have on-hand amounts of juice for your amp for when it needs to hit the lows that require and extra amount of juice to pull off. unless its a power issue where your amp draws, or your battery sends (unlikely?) a huge amount of power just before shutoff, causing that popping sound. is it possible to swap decks with anyone to test? if someone is telling you to use a cap, they prolly have a deck ;p, quick 5 minutes worth of swappage should clarify whether your issue is deck related or not, then you can at least rule your deck out as being a cause, and look at the amp. i dont like the idea of a manual turn-off/on switch for the everday driver person. it shouldnt be necessary imo. anyways, i would look @ your deck first, but thats just me HTH, GL gettin rid of the popping

The problem may be due to a problem in your deck. The deck should mute the pre-amp audio out momentarily before turning off the remote turn on lead output. If the amp is receiving audio when it loses remote turn on power, the result is a pop through the speakers. You need to try substituting either the amp or the deck, temporarily to find out which one needs fixing. sparky
