looking to buy a good quality spl meter......wondering what type of places i can find them at and what i should be expecting to pay...TIA

The radio shack one will do the trick for a lot of applications. www.radioshack.com

I use a behringer mic: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=248-625

and the TrueRTA software: http://www.trueaudio.com/ for my RTA needs.

I have no idea about what would be the best for high SPL measuring / competitions. Something like the AudioControl SPL meter is fairly expensive.
