Has anyone done this before? and combined the 2 inputs thru a switch in order to select the source?

There are much better (for a car) and cheaper ways to convert between them than an Extron box. The easiest way is a 600 ohm transformer with center taps on both windings. Check out the PDFs from Jensen in their applications section for some ideas.
If you want to switch two inputs, you'll need a 4PDT switch, one pole for hot and cold on each balanced channel. Make sure the grounds can be bussed on all 3 pieces of equipment first. Sometimes balanced gear in cars is wierd about that. If all else fails, get a 6pdt rotary switch (hot, cold, ground). I can probably cook up a schematic if you need me to.
