i was watching a car tv show just now and they had a great tip on how to pull wire through tight spots (i.e. grommets in firewall).  i thought of my current project and think it may work for pulling wire to doors and other areas. put a piece of drinking straw on a screwdriver (straw was just short of the end of the screwdriver) and stick it through the hole, pull the screwdriver out, put the wire through, pull the straw. will depend on what size wire you are pulling.  take it for what its worth. could be useful for some of you.

Heres another alternative...this is what I use. A metal clothes hanger- just cut the bottom portion off the hanger off, then sharper one end into a point, the other end you will bend it into a small hoop. Then you twisty tie the wires through the hoop that you just made and your ready you push it through the firewall or grommets.

I use either a real wire fish or a car antenna that I sharpened. What ever floats your boat though is fine.

i stick to using my finger....sometimes it dosent work out to my advantage though

oh a clothes hanger works great. i was thinking of something to use and im glad i thought of clothes hanger. its strong and you can push the wire threw if you need to, and can bend it in the right shape if needed. They are also amazing for hanging clothes. or fire pokers to cook marshmellows on :)

You can also use the center wire out of cable wire (works real good) or a really large (really large) industrial solder wire. It is bendable, does not break too easy and works like a hot damn. Both of these types of wire have little to no problems bending around corners or cutting into wires like a coat hanger may.

Well, I have one of those as well, but it stays in the portable tool box that goes to home audio jobs. It's amazing some of the things that you find out as you go along.

My favorite is using brake cable housing for mtn bikes. Flexible, plastic coated & stiff. You can push it through plastic gromets and doesn't scuff up anything. Also it's insulated incase you poke through the firewall into somewhere it's not suppose to go through

My favorite is when there is already wire there. Last car I did, I upgraded from 10, gauge to 4 gauge and I simply spliced it together with a ton of electrical tape and pulled it through. I still lifted some paneling to ensure it was laid properly, but all together it was an easy wire to run. The wire had already been pulled through an existing hole in the upper firewall. It was bare metal edges, so I loomed the wire and filled the hole with black RTV to keep the rain out and to prevent vibrations, which over time could wear the insulation.

I did the same thing rewiring a light switch in my house, but crawling through the attic with the blown in insulation sucks...
