Hey Everyone,

I bought my Mb Quart RSD 216 Component set 2 years ago and now one of my tweets are damaged. The specs for the tweets are:
MB Quart RTC25
Cone Type:Titanium Basket Type:ABS
Ohms:6 Freq. Response:920 - 40k
Sensitivity:86 DC R:5.3
Fs:1650 Qms:1.91
Qes:2.66 Qts:1.11
Prms:80
Mb Quart RSD 216 Specs
I don't have the money for new speakers so I just want replace the tweeters with new ones other than quarts. I loved the clarity of the quarts but it was pretty harsh at times. Right now I am willing to go back with titaniums or silks, as long as it sounds good. I heard that if I matched the specs of the tweets close enough to the old tweets, it wouldn't change the crossover points. I don't know of many good tweets. Can anyone suggest a good 6 ohm tweet from cdt, peerless, etc thats $75 plus or minus (pref. minus Need Tweeter Suggestions -- posted image. )? I have a kenwood equilizer too if that matters Need Tweeter Suggestions -- posted image. Just throw me a list of tweets that you guys/gals know off and I'll check them out. Thanks.

For less than $80 the pair, the Vifa D25 should sound similar to but be a bit smoother than your Quart tweeters.  The size is different so the mounting will have to be worked out.  You can, of course, buy Quart replacements... but not for your $75 target price.

Someone from another forum suggested the northcreek d25 silk dome tweets at $36 a pair .http://www.northcreekmusic.com/Specials.htm  It looks great for the price.  Now, are these home speakers/tweeters that I am looking at?  Sorry im a newb.  Anyone have experience with northcreek products?

North Creek ( www.northcreekmusic.com) is a fine company with some very nice loudspeaker designs.  The tweeter you mention is based on a Scan Speak D2905 which is a decent low-to-mid quality tweeter (and almost exactly the same as the Vifa since it's the same manufacturer.)  Yes, they are designed for use in home systems.  The silk dome will sound signicantly different from your Quarts, but for that price you could give it a try and see what you think.
