I was trying to install a cd player in an MR2 today and the diagram in vehicle info. was no good! The car has the factory 6 1/2's and tweeters in the front doors and I'm pretty sure there has to be an amp somewhere in the car but I can't find it. I tested the wires to see if I could get the speakers to pop but got nothing.  As far as I've seen so far no one by me has a simple plug in kit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

some of the 1991 mr2's have factory amps, some don't. the ones that do should also have at least one subwoofer located behind the driver's seat. some of the later models have a matching one behind the passenger's seat. the factory amps are located at the driver's b-pillar around the seat belt area. one of them is for the 4 speakers (6 if you count the tweeters as separate speakers), and the other is for the factory sub(s). once found, you'll notice the typical toyota wiring colours are there. and there's also speaker input wires going towards the 2nd amp. cut off the speaker output wires at the amp and connect to the aftermarket h/u that you're installing. you'll also need to make sure that you're connecting the input wires toward the second amp and connect a remote-turn on lead (i can't remember the colour exactly but it might be BLACK/ red) if you want to have the factory sub(s) still working.
good luck!
