Hello There,  Hope fully someone can help me out.  Ive been helping my cousin build the ultimate sound system for a truck he bought, its a GMC m135 (military truck) we have built the box, have the amps, and the speakers. problem is the truck runs on 24volts how can I hook up the equiptment to a chargable system. I can put lots of batteries and just run the system, but I wanted to be able to charge the batteries when the truck runs.  theres going to be 8 1000w amps and 32 12's JL woofers.  I'll take any suggestions on whats the best way to go.  We do need the batteries to charge or at least last 6hrs of running time.

because not only will it be for SPL but also for DJ'ing. Hope some one can help me out.

Sounds like a very complicated install.

I will take a shot at it and maybe some of the others on here can fill in anything that may not be correct or may have missed.  I don't know about converting the system since the electronics and computers are designed to run that way. But here is something that may be worth looking into.

Look at adding a second alternator and battery(s) that is dedicated to the system only.  You would use a 12volt alternator and would have to find a way to regulate the current to the battery such as installing a voltage regulator.  You wouldn't want to tie into the current system at all due to the voltage variances.  Other than by-passing the current electrical system I don't see another way of installing a system with out burning it up do to the high voltage the the amp rails would see.
