The factory am/fm/cassette in my truck has two (2) wiring harnesses connected to it .... one is a rectangular sixteen pin (16) harness and the other is a square twenty one (21) pin harness (three (3)rows of seven (7) pins) ... i bought a wiring harness to wire an aftermarket headunit and it plugs into the rectangular harness .... what is the square harness for? ... if i leave it disconnected will it effect any operation of the truck? .... i don't think that this year/model truck offered a factory amp option and the owner's manual and window sticker do not mention a premium sound system ... thanks for any help in advance

I think the 21 pin harness is for the OEM changer.

thanks for the help Jeff ... keep up the excellent posts ... since i don't have the OEM  changer installed it shouldn't disrupt anything if i just leave the harness unplugged, right?

Yes, leaving it unplugged will do nothing to the indash player.
