hey

i have an infinity 5760a 6 channel amplifier, currently it is running only my rear components in bridged mode, until my sub comes along.

the problem is when i turn the volume very high the amp cuts out and the protection light comes on, cutting of the speakers, it then comes on again and repeats the same problem, until i lower the volume in the head unit.

i tried connecting the speakers direct to the amp without the crossover and tweeter and it did not appear to cut out, i then used it with new crossovers and it did not appear to cut off either. but now it is cutting off again.

can anybody please help,

all wires are connected properly. and i have connected many systems before.

this is a pretty cool install i shall post pics soon.

Sounds like a bad ground to me. Where is it grounded to? You also might have the gain up to high.

The ground comes from the amplifier and the two capacitors , so three cables, and is bolted to one ground point behind the seat on my honda prelude. Direct to the chasis.

But would the ground cable cause the speakers to cut off at high volume? if the ground were bad wouldn't the amp just not turn on?

do u have more than one amp or a couple of components using the same remote line then make sure that remote line is giving all of your components a clean 12 volts because if any of these see a voltage drop it will send a signal to the unit that takes the most power  and shut it down make it go into protect its happend to me it drove me CRAZZZZZZZY UNTIL i added relays to the remote line of each component to boost the power so each one got a clean 12 volts   and BOOYA no more problem, try it ,it just may work for you toooo    GOOD LUCK!!!

Your problem sounds more like an input gain or speaker impedence problem to me, although if your "ground behind the seat" uses a seat mounting bolt, that is also a possible problem.
