1995 Ford Windstar, no sound

I'm trying to do a neighbor a favor and put in a cd player in his van. Its a 1995 Ford Windstar. The factory radio worked, but with no sound. I figured something was wrong with that radio, plus the owner wanted a cd player. So, I replaced the factory with a new cd player, guess what....NO SOUND!! I don't know what to do, I tried unplugging the rear controls with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm standing by for the insight, THANKS!!!

All of the speaker wires in that van are ran to the headphone jacks behind the drivers seat.  You will have to run speaker wire from the new unit  and catch the speakers at headphone jacks.Do it right the first time

raydawg, there wasn't sound before I installed the new player. That was the original problem. Before I did anywork, there wasn't any sound at all, so I thought it was the factory head unit, but after I installed a new head unit, the problem was still there.

Check his speakers, there is always the possibility that they are all bad.  I've ran into situations like that before.Do it right the first time

It had two sets of harness's, two other cables that had .5X.5 sized square connectors and then a small twin 22gauge connector. It has the rear controls behind the drivers seat for headphones, and volume/scan ..ect. I unhooked them alltogether to see if that would help. There was also a speaker on/off switch on that panel and I was wondering if that would be stuck in off???? Its unhooked and that did nothing. When he bought the van, the guy that checked it out said that for 180 or 280 dollars he could fix the problem, but didn't tell him what it was. I am guessing that it is an amp like jeff said. Is there a way to read that out?
