Is there any way to create a ported enclosure that hides the subs completely?

I have an 88 300zx and anything inside is very visible, trying to hide the subs sounds like a good idea so not everyone walking by sees 2 subs staring at them, but I want to keep it in a ported enclosure.  Is this possible and if so, does anyone have any photos or sketches of this type of thing?

Look at my site for ideas of the space I am referring to…

Read the section about using a plain text editor.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

You might think about making something simple like a lightweight wooden frame that will enclose the cargo area, and stretch / staple grill cloth over it.  Everything in the cargo area will be hidden, but the sound will not be impeded.

A fourth order bandpass would be essentially a ported box and would hide the subs from view, however it would be large and therefore hard to hide, a thief doesnt need to see two round things staring at him to know someone has subs, he can tell by looking in the car and seeing a giant box that obviously wasnt put there from the factory.  The best advice is to build the box that you want, invest in a good alarm, park in well lit areas, and turn it down when you pull up to a parking lot, dont announce to everyone that you have subs.

Good luck hiding anything in that car. Also you are more worried about someone seeing that you have stereo equiptment then you are worried about hiding the sub, right?

yea, i see your points.  my stereo equipment isnt too noticable...my amp is totally hidden and my face plate is removable so if im ever in a questionable area i can always do that and throw something over the subs like i have in the past.  ill just keep looking into it and if anything ill use some cloth or even the t-top covers to cover the subs...at least that's cheap...lol

Where is the spare tire? If it is on the floor, a false floor would be super easy to build. The sealed portion of the enclosure would be fiberglass, and building a bandpass portion out of MDF would get you the desired system type you are looking for. Then you could finish off the trunk with a false floor. Ports could go near the rear end of the trunk, slotted type would be functional, and keep it out of the way.
