Which of these designs would sound the best.  Keep in mind these images are just quick sketches and the dimensions aren't accurate.  Where whould the slot vent come out?

This is the only way I've seen it done.

But I suspect that numbers 1 & 4 should sound fine as long as you have them tuned properly and what not.

I don't think any of them would sound best...or worst.  It depends on how long the port length has to be for your sub(s), and how much linear space you have to put it in.  Don't make the slot opening too small just so that you can put in a shorter port length.  Keep the port opening large enough that you don't get chuffing when air is expelled, and with a larger opening comes a longer port length.  Fold the port in the box as necessary to achieve the length needed.  The port opening can be on any side of the box, but in cases where the driver is directed directly into the car interior the port should be also.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Thanks.  I have come up with a new scheme and will post it on my car domain site.  If anyone notices any issues with it let me know.  Thanks for all the help!
