ok my friend from work has a 96 acura 1.6le(canadian car i never heard of it) it is a four door. ok he just got a new panasonic headunit install in his car and there is no mid bass comin out of the bak speakers just vocal.  i looked trough the manual and the player to see ifit had a built in filter and it didnt had anything.  i looked at the connection of the speakersand i saw that the speaker looked like it has two different terminals. like one for the woffer and one for the tweet.  one of the cable to one of the connection was cut off.  are the factory speakers in his car lower than 4 ohms so they had to cut one coil of or somethin.  im very confuss. any ideas????

i think this is the model of the cd player he got http://www.thezeb.com/p-Panasonic-CQ-C3300U-CD-MP3-Stereo-Receiver-108725.htm

Really easy, check the phase of the speakers. Fade to rear and adjust the balance all the way to the right or left, if bass appears then reverse the leads on one of the speakers.

From your description, it sounds like the speaker was meant to be biamped. But I won't say that's definite w/o looking at the speakers....

I did't catch the part about wires at a terminal being cut. All you should have to do is wire the missing terminal and you should be good to go. Again not knowing what speakers they are or seeing them it is hard to say knowing this.

Well, you can use a multimeter and see what the DC resistance of the speaker is... It should be about 4 ohms to be hooked up to a HU. If each terminal is 4 ohms, you'd ideally have to get a crossover or new speakers. If each is 8, then put them in parallel to make 4
