Hey anyone out there please help me! I purchased a 1992 ford explorer four door xlt and I think it has the premuim system. Ok so I wanted to put an aftermarket cd player that I have which is a pioneer DEH-p3600 so I took the old factory tape player out and somebody had butchered the speaker wiring harness so now I have all these weird colors to work with does anyone have a wiring diagram that decodes these? I found one and it looks right and I put them all togethor but there is no sound in my speakers so I dont know what went wrong. Also I have no front speakers and I am trying to get new ones. could that be a factor. Somebody please help!

Your front speakers are a 5x7" or the new fangled 6x8" will work as well. If this vehilce has a premium sound system it will have a hidden amplifier that is behind the right rear quarter panel. It is towards the rear passenger door. It will need to be bypassed. www.installdr.com may have some info on wire codes.

Yeah well you see the thing is that I had a different cd player installed before by these pro guys and the just got a book and decoded the wires and just hooked it up. Now I'm took that one out and saw that the wires were butchered like that and wrote down the colors and hooked it back up with my new cd-player and the sound wont work but the power does.

You may have to trigger the factory amp to turn on.

I just bought a '92 explorer 2dr. 4x4 last week. I changed the aftermarket CD player and ran into same prob w/ no audio. What I did was hook up the two blue wires from vehicle to the remote turn on lead from my CD player and it worked then I found my amp. It was on pass. side FRONT. You pull up floor mold on pass. side. Then remove plastic screw (for lack of a better word) and remove small side panel by where ur feet would be on right side. Let me know if this helps! Also I'm looking to bypass my amp, u find out how to do that let me know.
