I'm installing my Inifinity Kappy 100.3SE tomorrow, along with the Kenwood 608-S 300 watt amp. My questions are: What guage speaker wire should I run inside the box from the terminal to the sub? I'm assuming the same guage from the amp to the terminal. The stuff that came in my wiring kit seems small.

Also, I have a brandnew BOSS c-150 amp, RMS power is 40x2. Would you recommend running the 4 component speakers off that or just off my head unit? My head unit is a Kenwood 40x4, but with a 22 watt RMS. My components are Pioneer 6 1/2 2-ways in my doors, and Pioneer 6x8 3-way in the rear cab section. All this is in a 1995 Ford F-250 regular cab.

Did I leave anything out?? Anything else you need to know? Thanks for the help!!!

Also, if I run the two amps, I already have the wire junction and everything for it. 4 guage wire from the battery, then a junction with two 8 guage wires exiting.

Well, the boss amp will not give you the sufficient power, as they are overated distorted amps. I never recommend running comps off of the hu, as it can cause problems/electrical failures and damage it. I would run 12 guage wire running from your amp to your block, to your subs. That is all you really nead, as Infinity's are really not that power hungry in which you might need to bump up to an 8 guage. So in this case, 12 should be fine. When installing all of this, remember to remove the fuse from under your hood, as you might blow it when moving or plugging in the terminal on your amplifier. Trust me i found out the hard way (Like 19 fuses and counting)... Keep your ground cable short as always, and make sure you have a clean connection on everything. Use good quality RCA's, not the stuff from RadioShack. Some people might say RCA's are RCA's, but really you can tell the difference dramitically if you get a nice pair. Personal recommendation: Monster Cable. It has never treated me bad, and i've never had to replace a pair. Good luck!

thanks for the advice. I've installed a few systems before...and actually my room mate left the fuse in last week when we were installing his amp and blew a few radio fuses.

He's running the same BOSS amp that I have powering 2 10's...they sound amazingly decent the cheap little amp...not sure how long it will last, but it's sounds decent. Would it be worth hooking up the BOSS that I have for the components since I already have it? Or just leave it off the head unit? They sound ok now...at least to me, but since I have the amp, if it's worth giving it a shot, I might at well use it.

The RCA's I have came in the SCOSCHE wiring kit I got.

edit: just re-read the post, the boss will not give sufficient power for the components? Maybe I'll just try selling it and picking up a cheap 4 channel...

You can run the fronts with the boss amp, and the rears off the head unit. You want them lower in volume than the fronts, anyway. 4 gauge splitting to 8 gauge will give you plenty of beef for future upgrades, so that is a good idea. Speaker wire doesn't have to be so beefy, as the power from an amplifier is higher voltage/lower amperes...that is, don't compare speaker wire to power wire. 16 gauge is plenty big enough for your needs, 14 ga. won't make any difference. There's just not that much amps running through the wire. The Scoshe RCA's will be fine.

Well, i really don't see the boss amp helping you out. You might get like 20W out of it if your lucky, that is 20 Clean watts. I'd sell it and grab an inexpensive amp like a JBL or an alpine. They are pretty darn cheap on ebay, see what you can find.

I think anything over 14awg would be an over kill with the power you're running...i ran 14 awg with 800wrms..14 awg will be sufficient for most applications..i think anything 1000wrms and over id think about 12awg..other than that you're fine. If you do get a new amp..check out the JBL 180.2 on www.sounddomain.com ...i'm pretty sure they have some more refurbs for cheap on there.

haha..maybe jbl doesn't make a 180.2..i thought they did...if they do its not on the site anymore.

thanks for the help. I'm going to run the wires for another amp, and just not hook up the boss right now. I've been looking on ebay and there are some good deals for some kenwood and pioneer amps.
