i have an 1996 dodge ram pickup and i am planning on building a system and i just bought a Alpine Cda-9833 and they suggest using a amp wiring kit since it draws a high current which is 60x4 watts, since i want my system to work right im gonna go ahead and do this but first i got a problem, how am i gonna wire this through my ignition system cause i don't want to wire it to my battery and have to turn it off every time i get out the car, and also i already got my speaker and two amp wiring kits on the way plus a pair of alpine 6x9's for the front a pair of 5 1/4'' for the rear, a pair of 12'' type X and 10'' type r's. and i'll proboly work from there with a multimedia system.

thanks for the help

using a amp kit for your radio [ install power cable12 volts to car batt + side ,make sure u fuse this   cable  with in 18 inchs of batt + side .then run this cable to your radio 12 volt constant [ alpine yellow] run the acc wire [red]apline to your acc in your car  and you might wanna ground your radio to the bare metal to have a better ground  by doing this  your radio will have the power it needs but when you shut down the car the radio will still have memory .alpine recomends 10 ga kit  . if you leave the radio powered at all times if you leave the radio on it will drain your batt also you will have to turn off the radio everytime you leave the car hope this helps

why are you bothering to try to run 2 diffrent type subs. you do know this is going to cause mass cancleation and you will end up with less bass then you would have from just one set of subs

I can't believe the stuff I'm reading here!

Wiring directly to the battery is no different than wiring to the regular wiring in the respect that you still have the RED acc wire left like it is and the YELLOW batt wire is connected to the battery + which is always on anyways.

In other words, you will not have to worry about turning the stereo off. It won't turn on unless the truck ignition is turned on. Besides that, audiopete is right on the money, 10awg wire is good to use and the radio will not lose it's memory.

The only other correction I will make is the 10 awg connection is compromised with a sh*t ground, a proper bare metal ground is mandatory to use the full benifit of this wiring. The electron flow comes from the negative side anyways....so it is not just a 'ground' it is a significant half of your power supply.  Chances are the stereo will come with a long ground wire with a loop terminal, just use it like it is if it is long enough.

As for the different subs...I didn't even notice until Jeff pointed this out....

I would keep the pair of 12"s, but that depends on your preferences ofcourse. I have heard multiple sub systems and it really sounds like BUTT!!

Don't screw around with your fuse panel, just run the wire straight to the battery. You need to run wires for the amps anyhow, so it won't cost much more time or money. Run a seperate wire for the HU.

Good luck with the truck, I'm getting a truck too, I can't wait!

good call on rewiring the deck's power and ground, the dodge wires blow in my opinion. the ground wire will most likely not be long enough. you will probably need to get extra 10awg wire and run it to where you will ground the sub amp so you dont get a ground loop. also do not ground your sub amp to the seats as they are both connected through the center console(it will cause a lot of distortion). where the 4 inchers go, ground to that piece of metal or even to the battery directly. make sure you sand the paint off as dodge paints everything incredibly thick. on a positive note, running wire in the truck is extremely easy. do you have a regular or quad cab? i have a regular 96 ram so if you have any problems or questions feel free to pm me. ive installed in a decent amount of cars, but i must say this truck has been by far the hardest thing i have ever done sq and spl wise, though as i said before, the wiring is easy

thanks man, i thought that would have been the right way to do it but i was'nt sure now all i got to do is hook it up and see, but as far as the mixed size subs, this is gonning to be a show truck im gonna have the 10's under my rear seat which i plan to mainly use, since i want a little bass inside and some room, the 12;s will be mounted in the bed under a tonueaue cover, i'll proboly have it where i sill switch between subs.

since i want this to be a show truck and a everyday drive im planning on carperting the bed and installing a xbox or playstaion video game with 4 monitors and some other goodies.

my other upgrades beside the system whcih should be doen by jaunary are, 22'' ADR Mamixus rims, a house of kolor red brandywine paint job and a toneaue cover, and lots of other stuff i've also got a big block 67 440 engine laying around giving me some ideas.......

but thats for the help guys, i'll try and post pics when its done
