Hi i'm glad i found this website.

If you guys could help me install an alpine cdm-7834 to my Mazda B-Serious 2000.
There is no head unit in the vehicle at all. There is a harness wire though. So i thought i tried to install the head unit. I Purchase this head unit used. so there is no owners manual.
i was able to pull up the stereo information on this forum from  your website, but do not know how to attach which wires to the head unit harness. If you could help me it would be great.
Thanks!

save yourself alot of time, stop at a local audio shop and pick up a wire harness for your vehicle then it will just be color for color (match yellow to yellow, red to red, black to black..... etc)

I was able to install everything!. after about 30 mins while driving done the road.

The headunit shut off. I pulled out the deck and checked the harness.. wires..

For some freaky reason, the ground wire and the hot wire (red) where stuck together.

awesome smoke affect.
THe funny thing is that both of the wires are new.. none were cut or partially stripped. so how could they attract each other and melt together?
Well i'm trying to fix this error, should i cut the burnt part of the wire and replace it and reconnect to see if it works?
also where is the fuse box for this car.. for sure i must have popped a fused! but where?

Ok, so i found the fuse box. its to the left of the steering wheel.

The (red) wire did not have any power going thru it (with the ignition turned to on)
so i replaced the fuse with another 30 amp blade fuse.

I took the ground wire ( which i was attached a screw to the chasis near the head unit) and touched the (red) wire.

It sparked, so i suppose it fixed the problem.

So i removed the fuse, and finsished up attaching the rest of the wire again. I just cut and thru out the burnt / melted wires, such as the ground, and the (red Wire).   Now the headunit still doesn't go on. I unplugged the headunit harness. and tried to see if i took the ground and the (red wire) to touch really fast to see if it would spark..  no spark....!

The fuse is still good.
I'm not sure if it could be another fuse maybe? or whats going on?

...what's going on, you ask?  It's called messing around with electronics and electricity without doing your homework first.  First, use the piece of advice you got earlier in this thread.  Second, always disconnect the battery terminal (just one will do, make it the negative) before touching anything electrical in the car.  Once you have the correct wiring harness that mates that deck with your car, let us know if you still are having problems.  Burning wiring in the car, touching wires together to see what happens....those are things that grown people shouldn't be doing.  There are professionals and help sources, take your pick.  But do the homework before touching the wiring.  You shouldn't be driving around with burnt wiring.

go buy yourself a ditigal multimeter, and test the voltage on each wire that should have power. Your 12 volt constant and your switched 12 volt wire.   see if these both have power then let us know

OK, i'll see if i can pick up a digital multimeter.

The trouble i'm stuck with is (from the car) the wires, "Constant 12V+", "Switched 12V+", and the "Illumanation".   Which wires connect to the wires from the deck?
The way i had it was the "Constant 12V+" to the decks "ignition red wire"
Then from the "illumantion" to the decks "Battery Yellow wire w/ inline 15amp fuse)
I left the "switched 12V+" wire alone. and the deck powered up. (only when the ignition key is turned on)
Then later this burning thing happend! so i dunno whats going on.  I mean the speaker wires are correct, the ground is clearn and tight.
Help me please!?!
I can post pictures of the wiring if it'll help out understand the situation
HELP ME!!! i'm poor and dying! j/k but i'm really sad! =(

everybody here that has posted a reply to your topic knows how to install a car stereo. I originally said pick up a wire harness ! Yes they make them for just about every car on the market !

the burning thing has to deal with the fact that is hooked up wrong !

Constant is 12v all the time, aka memory, on the radio harness its yellow

Ignition is a 12v when the car is on, on the radio harness its red

and dimmer is exactly that ! Its used for the dimmer, that will be either a orange or orange white (i believe) on the radio harness
