I installed an RF 1 farad cap today. The amp it's connected to works great, but the cap just won't hold a charge. I've charged it by itself, or with all the wires connected, and it will charge up, but when I tighten everything down it kind of does circles on the digital display (lines) and then goes blank. Any suggestions? I double-checked to make sure everything was right for the wiring (it was), as well as making sure it's getting enough power (it is). I'm just really confused at this point.

It could be a faulty display.  You only see a reading, not the charge capacity.  When you tried it out with the system, did it improve it?  What was the problem you were having with the amp?  Or are you still having the problems you had when you installed the cap with the hope of correcting them?  What you could do is to tell us exactly how it is wired and with what wire gauge instead of saying that all wiring is good.  That would help us to see it better.

when you tighten everything down on what?    the amp? the cap? everything?    I would say there is a faulty connection somewhere,    or I know this is wierd but I did have a cap that would only display for so long, or only when it was under draw.    is there a display button on it?
