Please bear with me i'm new at this

My car is a '92 Mercury Grand Marquis w/ premium audio and new Pioneer DEH-P560MP.  The wiring harness i'm using is a  'Best Kits & Harnesses BHA1770' made for Ford models 1986-2000

When i connect the yellow wires as instucted, then the red wires together I get no power at all to my deck and dash clock.  ONLY when i connect ALL FOUR wires together I get power that doesn't shut off.

Also, the black wire coming from the wire harness... is that supposed to be grounded? its the only wire that has a metal piece attached to it...

I feel dumb for describing this the way that I did, but its hard to describe what the problem is when i'm just learning this stuff

Just like computers, I'm almost positive that the answer to this is something retardedly simple... i just need some advice/instuction help

thx

Does the Original Radio work?

If your original Radio works with the original harnes we have a starting Point.

The Premium Sound Amplifier may be the Problem.

It may have to be bypassed with a different harnes kit before the original Ford wires can be used.

I had to Bypass one in a Ford Explorer before the After Market Stereo would work.

The wires go to the Premium Sound Amp thru the wiring harness.

The Power is routed thru it too.

The input to the Premium sound is at a Preamp level and it will not work with the Amp in the circuit.
