I am looking at either running 1 or 2 12" Brahmas. (Either way they'd have the necessary power for the sake of this question) in a 97 Ford Explorer. I plan to run them sealed in a SQ setup (I am figuring 1.25 cubes after displacement, correct me if I am wrong).
I want SQ, but I also want it to seriously slam when I want it to, however, SQ is my priority.
Is 2 12's overkill? I am highly open to suggestions, criticisms, and whatnot.
Thanks,
Evan

I know im gonna get questioned about the size of my enclosure, but i ran a 12" brahma in a 5^3 ft enclosure tuned to 30hz. I know this is not the ideal SQ set up, and the box is about 2 times as big as i should have made it, but it sounded better than any one sub set up i have ever heard (granted i have never been to any hardcore car audio events, mostly just kids at my school and in my city.) It was powered by a Revolution 1600watt amp. I never had a problem with SQ, at least before i fried it. It was louder and sounded much better than one kid i knew who was running 2 12" L7s in his ranger. He was using pre-fabed small sealed boxes. It was loud but his head unit was not tuned, and im damn sure his amp wasn't idealy set up. I had my 1 12" brahma in an '81 cutlass, and it was plenty loud, loud enough when i turned it all the way up that i had to get out or turn it down after about a minute. I think a single 12 will do the job for you. I have never heard of a brahma sounding bad in any set up, and i have also never heard of a brahma being quiet. If you have got the money and your electrical system is up to the challenge, im sure 2 brahmas would make a killer combo. If i were you, i would stick with a single 12 though, upgrade later if you must.
