Hi, just bought my KVT-815DVD (second hand) unit. Came with no cables whatsoever. The group of power cables I figured out already. There's one thick black cable that ends with a (square) connector (I believe they call it bus cable) that has about 20 pins. Anyone know which part I need to hook this up to my BMW? Can I just cut it off, strip the wires in there and connect them all to the car audio system?

Also, I hooked it up at home with a 12V adapter, just connected the yellow and the red wires together, then both to 12V, the black one to ground and it came up. The screen opens up, but it says "Disconnected cable found. Please confirm the connection....." blah-blah, so I'm in a dead-end street. How to install Kenwood KVT-815DVD -- posted image.

If anyone can help me install this thing with advise or a manual or anything else...I'm so frustrated and desparate, I even can give away my iPod in exchange to service.

Thanks in advance!

DO NOT CUT THE BUS CABLE....

With the head unit should have came another box that we call the brain...That is what the Bus connects to...If you did not recieve this Brain box then you got screwed...

If you did you have to hook it to the bus cable...It will not work with out this brain box....

Here is a pic of all the stuff you should have with this unit HERE ....Yeah I know its an ebay pic but it was the first one I found that showed all the components of this unit...

Also if you have NO experience with car audio I would recomend taking this project to a professional...Check out the shop before you let them install it for you ask around and make sure they do good work....

If you do decide to do it on your own we will be more than glad to help you in any way possible..

You guys are awsome. Thank you soooooo much. How to install Kenwood KVT-815DVD -- posted image.

One interesting thing popped into my mind...Which unit holds the code (if any), the player itself or the brain?

When I connected the player to power it says some Disconnected cables (like stated in the first post)...does that mean that there's no code?

It should be, email kenwood and ask them there pretty quick with getting back to you

You can also have a kenwood wood dealer reset your factory code

Good Luck
