I'm looking for an opinion on one of these amps to run my JL sub (10w1v2 4 ohm) - in a sealed box about .5cf.
I am looking at either a Hifonics Merlin amp or a Hifonics Z500D - the Merlin is rated at 200watts for 4 ohm and the Z500D is rated at 250watts for 4 ohm.
Are either of these amps any good, and any good for this application?

I sell both amps.Since You are using a W1 the Merlin would be fine(nice small footprint to install). The amp would run cool also. The Z500D would also work but it takes up more space and since your not working the hell out of it the Merlin might be better.Russ

Thanks Russ - out of curiosity, is the 200watt rating on the Merlin pretty accurate?
