I have a customer who has spilled 6 liters of lliquid laundry soap on her stock amplifier. I have not seen the vehicle yet and want to know some info before she arrives.I need to know what type of stock amp this is and if it proprietary to the stock speakers. She does not want to change the speakers. The BMW Z4 is a 2004 coupe. Speakers are in the rear center console (subs) and doors (components).
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I worked on one but not for a stereo. However I seem to remember the speakers having a strange impedence of like 1.6 ohms or 6.4 ohms. I wish I could be more help but I worked on one right after they came out and thats the last time I touched one. Sorry Man, mabye you should just let her know that the Z4 may not be the best grocery getter in the world.

I think it's a Harman/Becker amp, just like are used in the 5 series. It's proprietary stuff that they make only for the car manufacturers. I'd say if you have to hook up an aftermarket amp, it would be hard to figure out which wires go where, plus i'm sure it's a proprietary wiring harness which contains the input signals and speaker level outs (you know, the same situation i'm in right now with my wiring harness):
