i hade to use a test light to find the 12v const. 12v switched 12v illum. \dimmer (dont need but defanatly worth testing for so you dont short out the dash lights ) and ground then use a 9 - 12 volt battery to test for speakers . i also used t-taps so i didnt have to cut the orig. harness (witch will void the warrenty t-taps won't acording to my local dealer)

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER USE A TEST LIGHT TO FIGURE OUT INDASH WIRING!!!!!!

Why?  A test light has a very low impeadance and WILL deploy your airbag if you ground out the incorrect thing.  And in todays vehicles you really shouldnt be popping speakers with a 9v.  Accidentally apply 9v to the wrong circuit and again you can deploy the airbag or worse and a coworker did - fry the ECU....

If you want to konw whats what use a DMM (digital multi meter) - it will show you what is what, and keep voltages under 3v when popping speakers....

MY TEST LIGHT HOOKS TO BOTH GOUND AND 12V POS . AND DOSNT PULL ITS POWER FROM THE TESTED CIRCUT JUST IF IT     + OR - BUT ON SYSTEMS LIKE THE NEW GM CARS I USE A MULI METER . ON MY KIA ITS JUST BASIC WIREING NO RUNS TO THE COMPUTER OR AIR BAG NOT TO NETCHE THE AIR BAG WIREING IN ALL 2003 KIA 'S HAVE A YELLOW  JACKET ON THEM  . AS FAR AS THE SPEAKERS ARE CONSENED  I RULL OUT ALL OTHER CIRCUTS BEFORE I  TRY THE BATTERY TRICK  . I RULLE OUT IN THIS ORDER  12V+ CONST. THEN SWITCH  THEN GROUND THEN ILLUM. THEN REMOTE (IF EQIP. THEN SPEAKERS (DOUBLE CHECKING AT EACH SPEAKER )
