I have a 2000 F150.  The stereo was stolen and when they did such the cable connectors were also damaged.  I decided to undertake the task of installing a new stereo into my truck.  I purchased a new connector that indicates it will work w/ a F150 2000 model.  Thinking this empowered me I also purchased a Durabrand WD810 car stereo.  Now I have the POS Ford truck stereo slot, a connector, and a nice looking stereo, none of which I am able to peice together to be able to hear music in my truck again!  If anybody feels like humoring me, or has any advice on how to install, I'm a quick learner!

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I haven't owned a ford in quite a while but I'll see what I can help you with.

Generally speaking, (and I hate to suggest it, but it works in a pinch)...Wal-mart carries wiring harness adapters and mounting kits to fit your application. The pigtails you got with the radio will solider or crimp to the wiring harnesses you buy from Wal-Mart, and those connect to the vehicle's wiring harness. The exception being the power cable, (the yellow one that has the little tag that says "Must be connected to battery power". Don't skimp on this. Run a wire thru the firewall, put an inline fuse on it, and connect it to the battery.

I just got one of these radios for my birthday, and while it's not exactly what I wanted, the MP3 and XM radio capability is intriguing, so I'm going to install it. Only problem is, my car's got a freakin' infinity sound system in it. (3 in front, 2 front side, and 2 rear speakers). I have no idea how I'm going to have to wire that mess up. I haven't torn into the dash yet to see what kind of hell I'm going to have to deal with. Hopefully Chrysler wasn't lazy and took the signal from the head unit and threw it into a crossover, it'll make my life easier..

Anyway, good luck with your install.

Okay, here's what I found...

I went to Walmart and got a wiring harness.

I have the Infinity system in my Intrepid, and I thought it was going to be a problem. It really wasn't. The wiring leading from the head unit is still just FL/FR and RR/RL. Apparently the amplifier is tied into the automatic antenna wire, so you should connect the wire from the radio's antanna lead (I think it's the blue one with the shrink tubing on it.), to the corresponding wire on the wiring harness adapter that you bought at walmart.

I just finished up and it works like a champ. Didn't have to ethnicly engineer anything, and it works in all speakers like it's supposed to.
