I'm begining construction of my Jeeputer and have to move my HU. I want to put it in the glove box and was gonna extend the faceplate to the sunvisor. I think it might be easier to leave the faceplate on and just move the IR sensor to the dash so I can use my remote. I don't, however feel comfortable doing this (removing the sensor) and was wondering where I should go to find help. Would a car audio shop do something like this or should I go to a computer store or where? Where would I be most likly to find someone inclined to do such a thing?

An electronics repair/service center would be a good start.

You might try a an infared repeater instead. All you have to do is mount a repeater on the faceplate of your CD player where the IR receiver is, then mount the IR receiver that comes with the kit somewhere where the Alpine's remote can send a signal to it. http://peripheralelectronics.com/2002/specialty.asp (scroll down)

Man, maybe I should think before I post. Or just not post so soon after work. Thank you both.
