  • I own a 1997 chevy 2500 x-cab. I was wondering what system would be better two 12" W3v2 JL Audio subwoofers with a JL Audio 500/1 monoblock "Slash"-Series Amplifier. Or 2 12" SW8100 Aluminum series Eclipse subwoofers with a 1200W 1 channel Eclipse amplifier (DA7122). I love to have thump, but I also want quality sound and clean clear bass. Any suggestions.
  • First I would like to know which setup would be better. Then I was wondering what I else I should get to go with the subs because all i have is the regular factory speakers.

I've always been a JL fan but do not sell Eclipse so my opinion might not be completely valid. As far as highs, I would use Alpine SPX177r speakers and a JL 300/4 amp. Listen to both brands and let YOUR ears decide.

I'm assuming you are going to an after market head unit. If you are, that's it.

Eclipse baby What else do I need -- posted image. . As long as you have the room for the subs and the cones are not going to hit anything, they will pound and sound damn fine doing it, real damn fine. Front speakers are a oversize 6.5" woofer + tweeter in the door, rear speakers are 4x6". With this amount of bottom end in the vehicle you might consider the Eclipse PA5422 amp to power the front and rear speakers or the PA4212 if you are going to do front speakers only. MB Quart and Focal both make some great sounding speakers that will fit these doors quite easy. Make sure that you get those doors sound deadened as well, they are big gongs that resonate like there is no tomorrow.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
