Not if you know how to properly set the gains.

Which are you concerned with blowing, the amp or the speaker?  What kind of enclosure is the speaker in?

I am concerned the sub will blow, but i dont want to resort to 4 ohms until i get my other sub you know........the speaker could be in either a sealed or a vented enclosure, but most likely the vented.  3.25 ft^3 tuned to 38hz.

I already answered this question in your other thread. Why ask twice?

Sigh. Like we said in the previous thread, power handling is greatly reduced in large ported enclosures. Kicker only recommends what, 700w in that enclosure?
Anyway, as long as you aren't off your rocker with the volume control and learn how to set gain correctly you should be fine. However, statements like: "but i dont want to resort to 4 ohms until i get my other sub you know" make me guess that you'll neither have any self control nor set your gains correctly.
I recommend you either:
1) Build a small sealed box so you can hammer the volume knob to your heart's content
2) Run at 4ohms (gasp!)
3) Wait until you buy your other subwoofer

Yaada, i know what you mean lol, we are having almost the same conversation on the other thread sorry.... so if i was to get a multimeter and monitor the gain while setting it, do you know a formula at which i should set the gain, i always heard ear is the best, but with this set up i could blow it easily.

You're missing the point. Those people who posted about the gain are also missing the point.
Power handling, regardless of the gain, is greatly reduced when running a large ported enclosure. Even if you properly set your gain you can run the sub in that enclosure too hard. (especially tuned at a too-high 38hz).
Setting gain by ear is OK when you know what to listen for and don't plan to abuse your system with the volume knob. Most people buying 1200w amplifiers and L7s and insisting on running at 1 ohm ALWAYS plan to abuse the volume knob. ;-)
Seriously, I repeat:
"I recommend you either:
1) Build a small sealed box so you can hammer the volume knob to your heart's content
2) Run at 4ohms (gasp!)
3) Wait until you buy your other subwoofer"

what are the chances my car is going to run at full 14.5v cuz thats what it is rated at 1200X1 at 1ohm and 14.5v. Kicker says that if the amp is placed at 12.5v that the amp only puts out 1050X1 which is quite a bit lower. take that into account and i set my gain low, easy on the volume knob (and i really will be) should be good right, and if i were to make a sealed enclosure. or if i am easy on the knob the vented one still. My vehicle is a 1998 jetta 4cyl.
