I am looking at purchasing one or two amplifiers for my evolving car stereo.  I currently have MB Quart PCE 5 1/4 fronts, Alpine Type-X 6 1/2 (woofer only) for rear fills and a Alpine Type-R 10in. dual 4 ohm sub (got it for a good price).  The sub will go in a very small sealed box.  Also I have an Apline 9813 HU.  I am looking at either a JL 500/5 or an Alpine MRV-F345 and an MRD-605.  Both the JL and the pair of Alpines are the same price, so cost won't be the issue.  The Alpines are new for this year and are 75x4 and 600x1 (into 2 ohms) respectively.  The car is a 90 Nissan 300zx TT (hatchback).  SQ is everything and SPL is almost nothing.  Any thoughts on one way or the other for this setup?

I'd probabally go with the JL. What it all comes down to in your case is features, which has the features and the power you want. Go with the one you choose.

If "SQ" is everything, the JL Amp is the choice for you.
That thing is a true audiophile amplifier.

For the same install what are some good RCA interconnects to use.  I usually use the midgrade offerings from either Monster Cable or Streetwires.  Any thoughts?

The JL amps wil provide better SQ, and if they are the same price definatly go with the JL. I cant help with the RCAs really, im running cheapies in my car.

Really, most RCA's are the same. I'd go with the Streetwires, but then again I despise Moster Cable. If you want REAL SQ, run REAL balanced cables. Check out this guy's install for an example of REAL balanced connections.

Yea expensive RCA's are total bull$$$$ .
Don't buy the cheapest thing there, you do want some insulation, but some mid-level offerings from Streetwires would do you very nicely.
And get the JL!
