I'm working on a friends 2005 Chevy Blazer.  He wants to add an aftermarket deck.   Two questions:

- Anyone know of a good place to run the power wire?  I'd prefer just to use an existing grommet instead of drilling a new hole.  It'll be a 4 guage power wire.

- What is required to install an aftermarket deck?  I know i'll need the wiring harness/antenna adapter and a dash kit, although i've read that some of these GMs need some bypass modules when you remove the factory head unit?

Anyone who can post information about either of these things, i'd appreciate it.  Thanks!

According to www.soundgate.com , your '05 won't need a chime generator-type harness adapter. Looks like that is one of the last models left that don't use the Class-2 or GM-LAN data systems thru the radio.
Experience gained is directly proportional to the amount of equipment destroyed - break it & learn!

So i'd be okay just with the standard Metra harness similar to my old oldsmobile? No need for any computer bypassing stuff?  That would be a dream come true
