I have 3 12" Memphis PRD-124 and a Memphis PRD-1000.1 basically 3 12" subs and a monoblock amp putting out 1000 watts x 1 into a 1 ohm load, my 2 questions are, is this decent equipment (or should I expect problems) and is the ground the reason why I have engine noise?

IMO memphis is good but you will never get those 3 subs down to 1 ohm. engine noise-is your power and RCAs on the same side of the car?

Memphis is by far a well respected company. You will not only have great sounding equipment but memphis is known for how long their products last.

Memphis has 40 years of experiance under their belt.....

I have personally been running their equipment for the last 4 yrs...I have never been let down by their stuff...

For the output you get from their equipment against the price you pay I dont think you could beat it...

Their amps are rock solid, their subs are tough as nails (I have personally tourture tested every series), their speakers have a unique sound that isnt harsh to the ears...

I recomend their product to anyone....

I also feel that Memphis is a great value in car audio right now.
Engine noise, in my experience, is almost always a ground problem.

I have the power and remote wire on the driver side and the RCAs on the passenger side, I am using 2 ga. wire from the battery to a distribution box and 4 ga. from the box to the amp and the ground wire is the same size as the power wire.  They are actually at like 1.34

Check out the extensive grounding stickies at the top of the Car Audio forum.  Following the advice in those posts, especially from Forbidden, will probably solve your problems.
