This is my first time in this chat. Asome site. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 12 alpine type x sub and a mrd m1000 amp. I can't get the amp set right. Not use to this style. When i turn it up loud it starts getting distorted. I don't want to blow it so if anyone could help me i would appreciate it.

You need to get the gain set right, here is a link to a gain setting forum that migh help you in doing this.

Yes, they will put you in the ballpark, but this is not good enough for me.

The alpine is all electronic it has more than just a gain. There is like 6 settings that affect the lpf and the crossover

Do a search for the thread "Alpine Break-in" Read the whole thing. The posts by tcss will show you hot to set it up

Still not right. How can you tell if your sub is blown i push on it in one corner and sounds wierd but push in middle of sub and it's ok. Is break in period that important? My buddy has a jlw6 10 inch and his hits harder than mine. I have to have something set up wrong
