I have a 2001 Tahoe that I just purchased. It has an aftermarket alpine hu. The problem is that the sound cuts out going down the road sometimes, but the hu stays on like its still playing. The sound just cuts out and sometimes you can turn the car off and back on and it will work again. It does the same thing as when you hit the On-Star button, so that is why I think the problem lies in the On-Star. Can I disconnect the On-Star and fix the problem. I dont know how it is hooked up, I haven't taken it apart yet. Please give suggestions.

Well you obsviously have an OnStar retention interface installed also, if it mutes the radio. So you probably have a poor connection or a faulty OnStar interface. My suggestion is to find out what OnStar interface you have an call there tech support.
