I have a 2001 Tahoe with the 9 speaker system. The sub still works, but it sounds terrible. I think it has been hooked up to an aftermarket amp at one time. It sounds like it is blown. What would be a good replacement for this. What output does the factory amp have, and what ohm load can it handle. Would i be better off to unplug it and run it off an aftermarket amp. Please give suggestions.

Unplug and go aftermarket. The factory amp has next to no power. Make sure you use a decent step down like the PIE PDC-LOC to match your levels. Change the sub out too.
