Hi, I just put a sony cd player in my 1993 toyota celica.  This car has a preimium sound system, including a factory amp.  The sound with the new head unit is not to good, radio comes in fine, but when playing a cd, and turning up the volume, static is the only thing I hear?  Should I try to bypass the amp some how?

It's kind of odd that the radio would play FINE, and the cd sounds like crap....are you sure its functioning properly.

Did you use a wire harness adapter, or did you hard wire it... ?

If you hard wires the thing, check out your job.... BUT, since you say the radio works fine...I dont think theres a problem with your work.. I would look towards the player being the problem!

bypassing the amp is usually not needed...you just need to turn it on. Try and take the speaker outputs from the deck to the output side of the factory amp...(out to speakers)
