Rockford, Kicker or Hifonics Amp?

I have 2 JL 12w4 dual voice coil 4ohm subs and am buying a new amp and i have narrowed it down to 3 choices, they are the Rockford Fosgate P5002, Kicker KX450.2 and Hifonics BX605.  Which one of these amps would you guys recommend for my subs and why. Thanks

Just a quick question first. At least the Rockford and the Kicker are two channel amps. I'm assuming you plan on running each channel at 2ohms to a subwoofer. Or bridging to 4-ohms? The Hifonics is a mono amplifier. Much different. The 4-ohm rating is below that of either the Rockford or the Kicker. I doubt it is 1-ohm stable. My one concern for you is whether your electrical system can handle a big class a/b amplifier. Class A/B amplifiers are inefficient. If you like your music loud you'll be pulling quite a bit of power from these amplifiers. And, since they are inefficient, the amplifiers will be pulling quite a bit of power from your electrical system. If you have an aftermarket alternator or simply don't listen to your music too loud, I wouldn't worry much. However, if you ever plan on adding an amplifier to your mains, or have one already, or if you DO like showing off, I might be concerned about running a large class a/b amplifier for subs. If it were -me- and I would go with a more efficient class D amplifier. 300w @ 4-ohms would be just fine. You have very little to gain by going with a bigger amplifier to those subs. I'd put money down that anything more would be inaudible 99% of the time. This moves you into a nice price category. There are loads of class-d mono subwoofer amplifiers at decent prices that run 300w at 4-ohms. Also, another question. Are you going with ported or sealed box? (Ported will significantly reduce power handling capability, so you don't need as large of an amplifier if you go ported). Of the woofers you do have listed, if you're set on one of those three, I would go with the hifonics. Why? 1) More appropriate power for those subs (those subs are rated for 200w.) You have nothing to gain from running more than that. 2) Class D Efficiency 3) Cheaper. Hey, those aren't exactly high $$ SQ subs. You don't need an expensive subwoofer amplifier to make them move and sound as good as they're going to sound. In other words, I see no reason to go with the more taxing (electrically) and expensive ($$$) amplifiers in this situation. New Project: 2003 Pathfinder
