Just a quick question. A friend of mine wants me to install a new pioneer head unit into her 2001 windstar. I found the dash kit and wire harness at a store near me so that is done. 1st question is how do i get the old one out? does the whole trim around the radio come off? and second is there anything i need to know before i buy the radio and tear the dash apart? Thanks

you need ford radio removal pins, they pop on the holes on the radio and pull it out.

Not to question anyone on here, but doesn't an 01 Windstar radio bolt in instead of using Ford keys? Same car as the Nissan Quest van.
If so, then you need to gently pry the trim up and off around the radio/HVAc controls and then unbolt from there.

the 01 windstar isn't the same body as the quest that would be the mercury villager 99-02 that ford teamed up with nissan to build
