wiring a single 12'' DVC 4ohm

I got great deals on this stuff, I'm just not sure I will be able to set it up right. The sub is a 12" Treo SSi DVC 4ohm. It takes about 500 watts RMS. the amp I have is a RF power series 551s that puts out: 140 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms 275 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms 550 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms stereo or bridged mono output 4-ohm stable in bridged mode Obviously the amp is only 4 ohm stable in bridged mode, so is there anyway to get the sub running at 500 watts rms, or will I just have to wire it to run at an 8 ohm load? And if i do wire it for an 8 ohm load, will it be getting enogh power?

by the way, the guy selling me the sub told me I could hook it up so each voice coil on the sub is running from a seperate channel on the amp. This makes sense, but wouldn't that make the sub try to play 2 diferent tones at once and damage it, unless the bass track that was being played was already mono? I dont think this is possilbe, so I'm guessing the only other way to wire this sub and amp combo is at 8 ohms. Any suggestions?

darn if only it were DVC 2ohm instead of 4ohm.

You got a couple of option: 1) Do as stated above and wire each coil of the sub to 1 channel. This will give you a total of 280 to the sub, and no, it will not harm the sub at all. 2) Wire the sub in parallel and run it on one channel of the amp, giving it 275 watts, but the amp will be very inefficient with this setup. 3) Wire the sub in series for an 8 ohm load and bridge the amp, giving the sub 275 watts, but the amp will be very efficient and very clean. 4) Wire one coil of the sub bridged on the amp for a total of 550 watts. I wouldn't reccomend it, but it wouldn't hurt the sub if your not running it all day strong all day long. Paul

if you wire each coil together to achieve a 8 ohm load then bridge that on the amp it will show a 4 ohm load per side of the amp,   4 ohm load on the amp is what you are looking for. you can achieve it to get your power2009 0-1000 Trunk WR 154.0DB 2009 1001+ Trunk WR

I am looking for a 4ohm load on the amp, but I'm not sure how bridging an 8ohm load will produce a 4ohm load. Maybe I'm just confused.
