I have a p80 pioneer head unit, its a newer model, and the antenna was working great. I installed subs and amp with caps and the antenna signal is close to none except for the really really strong signals. I figured out that the remote turn on is causing it to weaken when attached, so i disconnected it and the signal is good again. The antenna is an element antenna, in the glass, so i think it is being powered. I ran a new turn on wire to check if it was grounding out. It wasn't. Has anyone had this problem or figured what it could be?

Run your turn on lead to an accessory wire, not the power antenna.  If I remember correctly, you can use the cigarette lighter.

I tried the accy. and it did the same thing, the cig lighter is a good idea though.

It sounds like you tried using an accessory lead behing the radio, which would probably be too small.  Isn't everything on that car databus?  The cigarette lighter will have either 16 or 18 gauge wire that'll be fine to use.

I have a JVC radio in my xB, no subs/amps but that shouldn't make a difference. you say the recption is better when you remove the turn-on wire, so why not just disconnect the turn-on lead going to the antenna? I believe the antenna amplifier is for the am recption so as long as you don't care for am your set.
