Hi, Newbie to this site but an automotive enthusiast for years.

I've a pair of Bose rear speakers from an '84 Caddy Sedan DeVille. They sounded so good I kept em when I sold the Caddy (engine went). I've just aquired a '93 Cavalier Z24 and wish to install these terrific Bose speakers in the rear ledge. Physically mounting them will be no problem as there is adequate space, etc.

My question is, are there any pitfalls, problems associated with using these speakers? They have their own integrated amps, so I'm assuming the signal from the Cavaliers factory Delco AM/FM/Cassette poses no problems. How about the power connections for the amps? Can I run one switched lead from the fuse box to power both amps? Should I run separate 12V leads? Gauge of wires important? What about Ground? Chassis ground OK or separate, back to battery?

Any help with this much appreciated. wiring codes for the speakers would also be really helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Brent.

I personally wouldn't waste my time trying to hook the speakers up

1. the speakers a 20 years old

2. different output from bose deck in caddy compared to cavalier deck

3. 99% sure it will sound nothing like it did in the caddy

4. ********************

Bose speakers in general are not very good.  Bose uses good enclosures and alot of equalization to make them sound the way they do.

Bose speakers are not great quality speakers, take the cheapest speaker you can and make a good enclosure and equalize the hell out of it and you have a BOSE system.

the speakers are also probably 1 or 2 ohm speakers. the cav. radio can't handle that. they need 4 ohm speakers. besides, bose sucks. waste of time.

OK, so, Bose/Delco car audio bites. mobile 1, you say 4 ohm speakers will work OK on my stock deck? How about a pair of Telefunken 4 ohm bookshelf speakers? I'm gonna dig em out and try em tomorrow.

Also, arn't most aftermarket car speakers 8 ohm? Or am I living in the past?
