I have a '98 Volvo S70 with the double din factory dash opening.  I would like to remove the stock double DIN HU and replace it with a cd player (single DIN sized)and a Uniden scanner (single DIN sized).

My question: Obviously, the cd player will go into a din sleeve.  Should I put the Uniden in a sleeve, or should I simply bind the two units together?  Comments, thoughts?  I am a decent amateur installer but I just cant get my arms around this one.

Thanks in advance.

Hang on boys... we're going in hot!

Simply, you could make a front plate using abs plastic and cage mount both units. There is a kit from metra that does this for fords, it may work with your volvo after some mods.

The best and the more expensive way is to have a custom bracket made.
The other way is to mod a double din Metra/Scotch bracket for Volvo to fit two single dins, it just involves cutting and sanding. I had to do the same thing for my 02 Mazda Protege5 to fit a HU and an EQ. Although the way I did it the HU had to right on top of the EQ, and that requires modification to the HU trim piece as well.
