Tahoe vent vibration noise

I apologize in advance if there is already a post on this subject… I have a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe with two 12” subwoofers in the rear cargo area. If anyone if familiar with the Tahoe/Suburban they know that on the two rear corners of the vehicle there are cap vents. When you play deep bass at high volumes they make an annoying flutter noise that can only be heard on the outside of the vehicle. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem without sealing off the vents? *1997 Chevy Tahoe LT

You might try propping them open with something, running a bead of silicone along the inside of the flaps, and when it dries, let them back down.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check out the idea tomorrow. One quick question though: Wouldn't the bead of silicone make a more air-tight seal when they are closed, making the flapping worse? *1997 Chevy Tahoe LT

I would think the noise is from the plastic to plastic contact, which the silicone would remedy.  If not, you can always take it back off with a razor knife.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I pulled the vent shells off tonight and took a closer look at the vents. I doubt the silicone will work. The vent that opens and closes is a very thin latex type material that the silicone probably wouldnt stick to. By the looks of the water and dirt paths behind the shell, if I were to open them or remove them the water would roll right into the vent opening and into the body panels. I guess I'll just have to live with it.*1997 Chevy Tahoe LT
