ive got a customer who has a 2001 7 series who wants to upgrade the factory stereo system. it has the factory nav. with the really wide factory radio beneath it. does anyone make a dash kit to accomidate a standard din radio in there? is the factory amp in the rear 1/4 like on the 3 series? any feedback from somebody who has experience with the stereos in these vehicles would be appreciated !!!!

why don't you just amp the factory speakers? or amp aftermarket speakers?
Use a good LOC and the results are usually pretty good.

What i would do is....leave the factory deck in, because it has a good dynamic range......upgrade the speakers and put an amp on them.....the factory amp is in the rear/drivers side with the navi and cd changer......there is also a am/fm ant. back there too......also nav-tv has a composite to VGA box for the navi too.

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

well, i plan on using a mtx 4 channel amp which does accept hi-level inputs. So i guess the most logical way to go about this is leaving in the factory head unit. I've heard that the ouput level from the factory head unit is "somewhere between lo and hi-level" so im not sure if thats enough to feed that signal into the hi-level input that the mtx amps have? any ideas? mtx says you can use a hi-level input ranging anywhere between 100Mv and 10V. does any of the factory nav. go through the factory stereo amp?
